What is IELTS Listening ?
The IELTS Listening Test is the first part of the exam. It lasts approximately 30 minutes and the test format consists of 4 sections and a total of 40 questions.
Each four sections has 10 questions, making a total of 40 questions. The sections become progressively harder. The answers to the questions come in the same order as the information on the recording. The whole test lasts about 30 minutes, including the instructions, your reading and listening time, and the time allowed for transferring your answers from the questions paper to an answer sheet.
All the IELTS listening topics deal with general topics, and it makes no difference what subjects you are planning to study or what work you intend to do. A range of English accents and dialects are used in the recordings which reflects the international usage of IELTS.
